The girl arrives at ranch and she should do all the housework to help the ranch owner. The owner had bad marriage (ex-wife has already taken or just wants half of the ranch as I recall or something similar) and he do not want to get involved in new relationship. At some stage the girl and owner makes love and she becomes pregnant. She keeps hiding pregnancy from him. I recall reading that one evening she is so tired from all the housework that falls asleep on sofa and forgets to make his dinner. I can’t remember did she moved out to nearest town to work as bartender and continued to hide pregnancy (maybe I’m mixing up with some other book) but eventually they both are happy together as he finds out about baby and ex-wife gives everything back because she is dying.
