I'm working on a history paper I just got, and the prompt states:

Many times in history class, we gloss over the people involved. We especially tend to barely mention some people and quickly move on, and many noteworthy people don't rate much more than a mention, if that. Pick someone from American history who intrigues you and is not very well known to write a paper on.

I need some suggestions for people to do, throw anything and everything out. Lots of options would be fantastic! Thanks so much.

Well it's all contingent on who you discussed in your class. From my own experience I can give you a few leads...

Rosie the Riveter: made famous with the war poster "We Can Do It!" referring to women working "back home" to support the troops abroad. She was inspirational to women and some say that she began the notion that women could indeed work and take care of their family at the same time.

James Madison: fourth president of the United States and "father of the constitution". From my experience he didn't receive much recognition in class despite his philosophical views/opinions that shaped the foundation our country. And come on, they put the guy on the freakin' $5,000 bill. Who is going to see that?

Harriet Beecher Stowe: author and abolitionist. Wrote the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" which sympathizes with slaves, something that was not generally socially acceptable to read or write about nor had it truly been as public before it was published. I learned more about her in college than I did in high school. If you haven't read the book I strongly suggest you do!

I included links of these people from wikipedia. I suggest if you are going to write a paper to look them up further than that. These will, however, give you good enough information for a start and will help you make a decision or possibly find someone else.

I hope this helps you out and Good Luck!
