The crank on my bike came loose on the way to school so I locked it up at school (as it was unrideable). I left it locked up at school over a week as it became extremely icy and I didn't particularly want to push a broken bike up an icy hill. After the weekend it was clear someone had attempted to brake through my lock with a saw or something similar. After failing they have sawed straight through the rim of my back wheel and kicked the crank arm (which was already broken) off. There are no signs about the school not being liable for the bike and I would like to know who is liable for it and if I have to pay.
I have spoken to the school and they are currently discussing whether they will pay a fee towards it based upon my financial information. I would just like to know if they are legally liable? thanks.
