Who is correct? My spouse supposedly told my son-in-law that he could keep sofas?

My spoue needed storage space since March an left his sofa and recliner at my daughters house - and said they could use them since we have no where to put them. Today, he said for me to tell them that if they want to purchase them at a good deal. They are upset cause they said he first told them they could keep them........as always, I am in the MIDDLE. Help who is correct?
