Mary Pope Osborne. Her books are original and fun to read, even if they are geared more towards little kids. Harry Potter may be "famous", but Rowling clearly got ideas from other series.

J.K.Rowling is the author of the Harry Potter series, about a boy who lives with his aunt, uncle, and his spoiled cousin. He's mistreated and was sick of it,until one day he got a letter asking him to go to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There he finds himself face to face with his parent's murderer at the end of each school year, who tried to kill him but didn't succeed.

Mary Pope Osborne is the author of the Magic tree house series, about Jack and his little sister Anne, who find themselves in a different time period each evening, even experiencing WW2.

I think they are both good.

J.K Rowling is more for older kids, and is more fantasy.

Mary Pope Osborne is for kids with a lower lexile score and is more non-fiction.

Personally, I like J.K. Rowling because M.P.O.'s books are too simple for me.

I read both series.

Lets put it thise way...J.K. Rowling dedicated more time to each book than the Osborne did the Magic Treehouse series books. The outcomes were definately different. Her first book were probably equal in volume to most or all of the Magic Tree house series. Plus 6 that were more and up to triple in size. The characters were a little more thought out and had huge development, and because of the rapid succession in Osborne's books its hard to find any or keep track of it. Rowling's books were phenominal, the actual books. She was creative in her writing and created an entirely new world, vs. Osborne using other realities (such as WW2) to base her books off of. Anyone can go through and find points in history that is interesting to talk about. Rowling invented a world of her own, and incorporated a piece of reality into it. Opposites. Osborne's books are more intended for children than anything else, and it involves some great morals. One of them was the "Women and Men are Equal" theme in the book were Jack and Anne travel to ancient Greece.

I like J.K. Rowling better. Both are original authors that appeal to wide varieties of people. They write well and can actually complete a large project when most will lose motivation.

J.K. Rowling. Her books are something that just could never be matched. They are so complex and well-planned, not to mention well written, with humor, morals, action, love, and just a deeper meaning to them. She took the whole good vs. evil to a whole new level. They are books that anyone can enjoy, young or old, that you never tire of reading them.

M.P.O. is okay but honestly all of her books are pretty much the same. Just a different time period and mission but otherwise once you read a few, the rest just aren't exciting, plus they are at such a low level, that no one over nine or so could actually enjoy them. Sure parents may think there cute but other than that they are so dumbed down. I liked them when i was 8 but i've never picked up a book since.
