I know I can get into trouble, as this might not be a question, but screw it. Here is a copy of a letter to the editor that I wrote yeterday. It will explain everything...

Dear Editor,

Today, there was a death in my family, but because of the ‘unique’ nature of the family member we will not get compensation, or even regret, from the people who ultimately led to his death. This letter is not only an obituary, but also a very angry complaint against them. The ‘them’ in question here, is PETCO.

As of today, May 18, 2008, Lord Harken the Columbian boa, is dead. He died of neurological problems caused by the ticks he had on him when he was purchased. You may wonder why the death of another person’s snake is so important to you. I will explain later. First, you must understand the emotional impact this has had on my family.

My grandmother, Melissa Biggs-Yates, and I were shopping when we got a terrified call from my aunt Barbara Ferroni (the owner of Harken). Sorry, space prob
She was concerned because he wasn’t moving. He had started having seizures in March. He was taken to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital and was kept there for five days. It cost my aunt hundreds of dollars. He was taken home afterward, and was apparently happy and healthy until Friday. He had another seizure.

When we contacted UC Davis again on Friday we were told there was nothing they could do. He would continue to have the seizures until he died.

After his death, we went to PETCO in search of compensation, an explanation, or even a little remorse for their neglect. What we found was a rather uncaring manager named Cat. She explained to us that “There is only a fifteen-day return policy. After that, it’s not our problem.” She even offered to ‘dispose of it’. She talked about Harken like he was an ‘it’, a commodity. This seems to be a running theme at PETCO.

What PETCO doesn’t understand is that when a person buys a pet, it becomes a part of the family. You house them. Space prob
You love them. When they’re sick, you take care of them. A pet is not just an emotionless toy to play with, and then abandon. It is a living, breathing thing that a person gets attached to. If you were to sell a broken toy to a child, it’s not that big problem. If you sell a broken living thing to someone, it’s a very big problem.

My family and I suggest that if you look for a new family member; go anywhere else other than PETCO. Find a place that doesn’t think of your new family member in dollar and cents.

P.S. Farewell, Lord Harken.

Sincerely,
Shawna Biggs
The "Farewell" part was my grandma's idea, so don't complain to me about how lame it is.
We're going to MySpace and Youtube with this. And the letter's been sent. My family and I are pursuing this to the end. Anyone who is willing to help is very much welcome.
Finally! Answers!

What does this have to do with the price of gas? I think PETCO is a great place.

i'm sorry that your snake died , I do have a issue with petco because of what happened to you snake
