Who have better songs: Villains or Heroes?

I've always found villain songs to be the best, despite how they often don't get the biggest coverage. I guess it's how the villains are usually the only characters who can insult others in song form and make it sound good.

They can also sing their songs on a more dramatic scale than heroes (I don't know, it's something I've noticed.) that kind of attracts me to villain songs even more.

Don't forget the very frightening atmosphere they often get in their songs (brr, chilling.)

You're not alone, there's a whole page on TVTropes dedicated to villain songs. After all, a story needs a good conflict, and usually that comes in the form of a villain, so you'll remember them, and their songs, all the more better.

Villain songs get my vote.

I prefer hero songs, at least in the sense of a vocal background theme that plays when the hero does something awesome.

Hmm. When I read the OP, I was thinking in terms of Disney style "Hero Songs" and "Villain Songs", where villains win unconditionaly. but now that you mention it, a lot of more action-oriented shows have had some awesome hero songs as well (Real Folk Blues comes right off the top of my head, and I'm sure I've heard others).

Still, for the most part, I prefer villain songs. They tend to be big, impressive blow-outs, and I've never seen one that wasn't either a good point in a good movie or the highlight of an awful movie.

(This is only a semi-related note, but you guys know that song Every Little Piece from Pete's Dragon? Every time I watch FUNimations Fullmetal Alchemist dub, I imagine Barry the Chopper singing that song.:anime:)

I gotta give it to the Heroes. The only villain song (off the top of my head) that I really like is Gaston's song form Beauty and the Beast. And as cool as his number was, it still wasn't the best song of the flick. So yeah, Hero songs, hands down.

Villians in general tend to have more vivid and grandiose personalities than heroes, which lends itself to songs better.

The Nightmare Before Christmas, BTW, deserves a nod for having a superlative hero song AND villian song.
