Who else would agree an artist can be extremeley creative without actually

composing music? Sinatra, a lot of Motown, Elvis, Dean Martin, Patsy Cline, Enrico Caruso, the list goes on of artist who didn't write.

I mean you can tune a car but that doesn't mean you can drive it, I think equally as important to any good music aside from the very obvious because no one would want to listen to a piece that sounds like it was recorded in a basement somewhere but vocal construction and delivery.

I don't think a lot of people realize with amazing singers they didn't just wake up one morning open their mouth and heard what they heard it usually takes years and years and even more years of practice.

Ive always thought if a song shines it shines it doesn't only matter who writes it but who deliversit as well.
And in some cases the Record labels didn't want to pay additional royalties to the artists for writing so it was strongly discouraged and to my knowledge in some cases forbidden
I'm a huge Elvis fan he wrote 1 song to my knowledge the rest were just co writing that in reality probably is nothing more than the title or a few words.

But your right it wasn't uncommon back in those days, and lets say you have a singer like Sinatra or Como that can't write worth a lick why ruin it, I mean Just Beiber writes??
The video description says someone else wrote that but I am pretty positive that is the only song Elvis fully wrote. I'm not sure why it says Red West wrote that.

And Great insight everyone, I enjoyed reading your insight.
