Pokemon was a huge part of my childhood; I started liking Pokemon from a very early age (about 4) and it was literally one of the very first series I started to like. Pokemon Yellow was my first game (got it around 1999 or 2000), I can't say I really understood it being so young, but I found it charming. I actually only ever completed the game about 3 years ago and surprisingly, the game STILL works to this day.
After Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Gold was my next game. I got up to about the 2nd badge before I accidentally lost my saved data by starting a new game and overwriting the old data, lol. On my Pokemon Crystal, I got up to about the 3rd badge before not really knowing what else to do (I was about 6 or 7 when these games came out and I never bothered to actually read the text, lol). Both my Gold and Crystal games died about 3 or 4 years ago when the internal battery decided to commit suicide so they won't save games anymore, but I was thrilled when HeartGold and SoulSilver came out so I could relive the old days and actually play through the whole of Johto this time.
Although a lot of people seem to hate the 3rd gen, it was actually my favorite because when I brought Sapphire, I was about 8 years old and I actually pretty much knew what the hell I was doing this time and decided to read the text, lol. It was great fun and it was my favorite game for about 2 years. LeafGreen was also much loved. After that when the 4th gen came out when I was about 12, I started to go off Pokemon a bit, but I still loved it.
Since the 5th gen has come out this year, I haven't really been bothered (I'm 16 now). I did buy Pokemon White back in March I think, but I only got the 3rd badge before getting bored. I just don't like any of the new pokemon and I believe I've just outgrown pokemon now, even though I've loved it almost my whole life.
Anyway, I've been going through a bit of a nostalgic moment this week and I've been missing my childhood days of Pokemon. The old TV series (which I stopped watching after the first few episodes of the Hoenn series), the old games, my old pokemon cards, my old pokemon plushies & toys, I just miss it all and wish I could relive my childhood again.
I do understand that pokemon is actually a lot better now (at least in my opinion), but I just miss the feeling of playing pokemon all those years ago which I know I'll never get back.
I always get these nostalgic feelings every so often though, just a few months go, I missed the old Pikmin games, the first one I got back in 2002 (I was 7), so I decided to play it again, and although it was fun, it just wasn't the same cause I already knew what to do. Since this 'Pikmin' nostalgia thing, I've been remembering all the good things back in 2002; when I started to like P!nk, when I moved to a new house, when I met some of my best friends, when I loved pokemon and one of the best years of my life.
Ah, yes, good times... Anyway, sorry about the long post, was taking a trip down memory line.
So anyhow, does anyone else miss the old days of Pokemon?
