I am getting ready to apply for financial aid but I have an interesting situation. I live with my Grandparents and for one year I was dependent on his taxes(2009) but he makes 65,000 to 75,000 dollars a year, from what I was told, they will not give me any money. Well my mother on the other hand lives in Houston, is disabled and has to take care of my two younger siblings. She only makes about 30,000. When I told my admissions counselor this information she told me that it would be best to have my mother file as having me as a dependent for 2010. I just wanted to know that before I get ready to do the paperwork, can I do this, and does she need to file me under her in her taxes......?
