Who do I complain to if my property management is not doing their job?

My mailbox can be opened without a key. This is due to the fact that it is a very old mailbox. In December I was supposed to receive a DVD in the mail through USPS. Didn't get it. Didn't think too much of it. Until other tenants told me they hadn't received important mail. Monday I was supposed to receive a envelope with a receipt from my dad of something I needed to return. Never received it. I was also expecting a package from Amazon. Looked at the track and confirm to see that it was delivered on Monday. Both my receipt and package never arrived. I am assuming it was stolen. I complained to my management about the fact that mailbox could be opened without a key and that several people had been missing mail. I was not the first to complain and they said they would fix it but hadn't. Now I can't return a phone that was 100 and I lost 20 dollars worth of stuff from Amazon. Who do I complain to that they are not doing their job? I want to be compensated for what I lost in the mail.

That is a big liability for the management. Personal safety and theft are in play here. FIRST write a letter and mention the word liable several times. You can make a formal complaint with the Fair Housing Dept.

the property should be owned by a management company...you need to notify the owners of the company and complain about the site manager.

The name of the company should be on your renters appliction...If there is not a direct number printed, then look online for it...or simply ask the manager for the number.

Report the problem to the Post Office. Every once in awhile one of the mailboxes where I live doesn't close and lock. When that happens the mail person doesn't leave mail in it. The Post Office will see to it that your management office complies with the law.
