I know a lot of people are going to say Fred Thompson or Ron Paul, but the numbers indicate that a larger share of votes, and therefore more of them voted for, went to Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney. Who did more present-day Tea Partiers vote for? Also, John McCain won the nomination, so that can't clearly happen unless he had a base of support. The online conservatives, along with Limbaugh, Coulter, Savage etc. tried to stop him, but he still got the nomination, so clearly a number of conservatives didn't listen to them and vote for him. Or something. How did that work out?
