These big three are going down. I have done business overseas for years and I dont see anything like Labor costs we got here in the USA. and that means the eventual demise of the US auto industry which is the LAST high paying high labor cost business left in the US.

Nothing will ever counteract that low foriegn labor costs, I can guarantee that as FACT as ive seen what is going on in China, and at least six other low labor cost countries.

Waste of time and effort to try and bail out autos here in US, that industy is doomed and will go the same way as the Electronics industry did------- Overseas where labor is cheap and plentiful and work ten times as hard and US workers do.

Perhaps. I think the question is "how much more are you willing to spend to buy an American car?" There is a number I will pay; but, I will not pay more to keep union labor in a "rubber room" where they are paid not to work. I will not pay $2,000 extra for outrageous labor contracts and I won't pay $10,000 extra for management incompetence.

Add to that an inferior product and as far as I'm concerned the Big 3 can go down. Get the house in order and I'll come back.

stop trashing american made product, people like you will sell out your country for a few dollars,do us all a favor and do all your business overseas,I WILL GLADLY PAY MORE FOR AMERICA MADE ANYTHING

Yes well it goes the same way as the garment, steel, electronics, electrical and other industries.

Unless ... the unions back off already.

Now they are pleading for their jobs. But soon they will be pleading for unemployment extensions.

Serves them right.

labors not that cheap but they don't get the big union wages that the big 3 auto makers pay, honda, bmw, toyota, hyundai, mercedes benz etc.. all do very good making cars in america and exporting them worldwide from here. they do it in non union states so that seems to be the key and to change some upper management

It has nothing to do with labor costs.

US manufacturing can work.

They first need to make a car that people want to buy and they have not done that for over 30 years.

They should be allowed to fail. But Unions are not the problem either

We need prohibitively high tariffs and taxes to keep Communist Chinese automobiles out of America.

Social Democracy has nothing to do with Socialism. It is about doing the right thing.
