It's been confirmed that series 2 of Whitechapel will start on Monday 11th October at 9pm on ITV1 and ITV1 HD. I can't wait! :)

You can see the full-length trailer for it HERE.

And if you're a fan of the series, please check out the community for it on LIVEJOURNAL.

Hahaha. The way you've worded it, you make it sound like that gatecrashing a Kray funeral was a regular occurrence!
Do tell...

Hey Chiaroscuro! *waves*

You're right, there's no tension at all. Even in the machine gun shoot out, nobody died. It's definitely not a thriller this time round, hilarious, yes, but scary, no.

No, my sig should be, 'Yea verily, for I am the killer of threaRAB'. I have a habit of posting something and then the thread just dies. So I daren't post for fear of killing Digitalspy. On another board, I'm the last poster on three different threaRAB. I have boardkilleritus or something. :o:(

Either that, or I'm really, really dull...it could be that...

Thats just another Saturday night out here in the sticks.

Beats any X Factor or Strictly.

We just vote in the pub and its the Wicker Man for a lucky villager.

We have asked Simon Cowell to visit ...but somehow thats not going to happen is it :(

I think i read in the sunday newspaper that the real pub is still used and quite modernish now. They wanted a pub that they could bash around and muck around with, so they used one nearby that was still old fashioned and was standing empty. It has been bought, but they were allowed to do their filming before the new owners stripped it bare and modernised it.

The gym and snooker hall were the same though.

It's like the opposite to Morse/Frost [which I love] but still great.

It did my head in when all the police were looking at the one bloke on the pc, then the place got robbed?? He was scapgoated as the grass, then walks outside crying next to a donkey. :p

I don't know what is going to happen next week, and can't wait.

.

Yeah we said the same, surely they had to build up a reputation to become the 'untouchables' the show is suggesting they now are, they would be well on everyone's radar!!

Beat me to it - just found out now too lol

Shame they are putting it up directly in competition with Spooks. luckily this day in age time-shifting is such an easy thing!

Thanks for posting the link to the trailer. Just watched and its looking good. Glad Steve Pemberton is back - although every time I watch him in this I can't stop seeing him as Mr Tubbs lol

Had to give up mid way through episode 2. The only reason I watched it was because Phil Davis was in it. He's a cuddly old curmudgeon, isn't he, although I do remember that he used to play nasty sneering boys back in the day.

I really enjoyed it, wasn't expecting it to be as good as the last series as I really enjoyed that, but was really into it last night and was gutted when it ended.

Lots of my recording of this pixilated and I missed some chunks of it and had to watch on itv player, but the sound and pictures were awful. Can anyone tell me why the policeman beat up the other one in the office, and was he the one who got the award at the beginning. Thanks

I think he beat him up:

(a) because he felt the junior officer had let him down in accepting a confession of murder from someone who (as Sgt Miles proved subsequently) had been paid to make a false confession by 'the twins' - so he was 'embarrassed' professionally by that.

(b) because he is evidently a psychopath (see also, (c) below)

(c) because - I think - that this was one of the ways in which the writers were trying to show that (as happened in the 1960s) the police tasked with investigating the gangsters ended up being corrupted by and resembling the gangsters themselves

(d) I think it was also a bit of a red-herring, intended to make us wonder for a moment or two whether the copper might be the killer.

Apologies for the lengthy answer. Nothing straightforward about Whitechapel is there?!

I think this plot line is a complete load of old rubbish. It so far fetched it's going to spring back and belt itself in the face.

I know we have to suspend a bit of belief for TV dramas but this is asking far too much. It's in the realms of fantasy.

In the first series, he was obsessed with tidiness and cleanliness, now it appears to have changed to electricity and counting drawing pins.

I also accidentally attended Ronnie Kray's funeral. My daughter and I meant to go shopping in Bath but somehow ended up in Bethnel Green. It was quite an experience. I have never seen so many ugly men with enormous necks and beautiful girls draped around them.
