white spots on face in summer but not any other seasons?? help!

ok this has been happening for about 3 years and i want it to stop. i've been to 3 doctors. the first one gave me some steroid cream. i used that for a year then i switched doctors and they told me the steriod cream was thinning my skin so i stopped using it. So then i switched doctors again and she said i had an allergy to the sun? wtf? is that possible? the white spots only during the summer time and then they gradually go away when winter approaches. but i spend like equal amount of time in winter as i do in summer. i know for sure i dont have vitiligo, tinea versicolor, eczama, psoriasis , and that pityrisis stuff. the white spots are smooth not dry and not scaly and once summer passes my face is all the same color again. PLEASE HELP!!! is this really and allergy?? if so what can i doo?? sorry for being soooo long. thanks! :)
 
how do you know it's not tinea versicolor .... have you tried an anitfungal cream for it? sTeroid won't help.

Do you tan or use a self-tanning cream on your face?

The only "allergy" to the sun that I know of is called solar urticaria, but it causes hives, not white spots.


The medical term for white patches or spots on the skin from whatever cause is leukoderma. A general term for your condition might be "solar leukoderma".
 
White spots that appear only in summer and go away in winter sound like vitiligo to me. I have a very mild case of it and this is exactly what I get. Did a dermatologist see you and rule out vitiligo? Try supplementing with b12. Make sure it is the liquid form (sublingual) that goes under the tongue and make sure you take it with folic acid. Has worked great for me. There is some new research into vitamins C & E helping with oxidative stress, which could be a cuplrit in these types of conditions. Creams and steroids are kind of a toss up....works in some, others not so much.

Tinea Versicolor are usually dark patches and would be more common on the back and places that perspire more. That would be helped with dandruff shampoo like Head & Shoulders.
