My betta has been exhibiting some 'shiftiness' lately.
Some times when he swims around he jolts as if his been shocked and then continues to swim normally.
I did as much reading as I could about this and concluded that he may have internal parasites since he had no external symptoms.
I went to the local aquarium today to find some medication.
After consulting with a staff member there he said that it was most likely NOT internal parasites since my fish has normal eating habits- HOWEVER, the behavior was NOT normal. He said that it could be an external parasite even though I could not see it and then prescribed me with 'white spot' treatment.
I asked if it would harm my betta if i treated him with it and he DIDN'T have white spots. He said it would be fine.
I have the treatment next to me but I'm hesitant to put it in the tank.
Can anyone confirm that it's okay to medicate the water even if the fish may not have this disease?
Also, my 5 gallon tank does not have a filter- only a heater.
I don't want to wrongly medicate it ):
And.... how can you stop a betta from destroying it's tail? He has such a nice tail before and now it's all chomped up. (definitely not fin rot)
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
:S I didn't buy this medication online. I bought it from the aquarium.
