white spot on my fish?

my son won a golfish at the fair we thought it looked healthy so we put it in his tank hes only got 4 little tetras and a small plec in there. but now mr gold is coverd in white spots we have put 2 lots of treatment in but its not geting any better. has any1 got any other advice that i can use? hes been like this a week now 1 min he looks like hes dyein the next hes swimming aroud fine
