White spot on gold fish!!!!! HELP?

I have 3 gold fish and they all have white spot. I think the disease is at a late stage now as my fish are just all laying and the bottom of the tank and there fins are all thin and braking away! i have reserched all the treatment but at this stage of the disease will the treatment work? The man in the fish shop told me to stop feeding then for 3 days as there was to much immonier in the water and just to do a quater water change but not to treat them. he said they will be ok then but i dont think he is right as they are looking very ill and life less. Shall i use the salt treatment? can my fish be saved?
 
ok... white spots... it sounds like ick. you should always treat fish at the first sign. if the water is not cloudy it is not ammonia. In which case I would say do the ick treatment asap. Not feeding them was a bad suggestion.
 
maybe your fish have h1n1 virus... just kidding. try to clean and change the water inside aquarium. stop feeding for 3 days is a very bad idea, imagine if you were hungry and not eat anything in 3 days.
