White smoke from tailpipe of 1995 Ford Aerostar?

My 1995 Ford Aerostar (217K miles) started putting out white smoke from the tailpipe. I had an antifreeze problem where the heater hose broke and I put a patch job on the hoses to the radiator. I don't know if it's a coolant issue (I put more than a gallon of coolant in the radiator and it looks like I didn't put any in, but I don't see anything leaking anywhere) or some other issue.

white smoke is actually steam from a head gasket leak, with the mileage on the vehicle, its safe to assume you are going to need a engine rebild soon if the leak is small you may be able to buy some time with bars leak, but if you are leaving billowing clouds of steam that obscures the cars behind you, nothing is going to fix that short of an engine rebuild. good luck

you are loosing coolant into your combustion chamber, could be a blown head gasket or a cracked block or cylinder head
