white smoke from chevy?

i have white smoke coming out of both tail pipes when i First crank after sitting idling only the left side pipe has white smoke

what is making the smoke and is it a bad thing


the truck is a 1991 6.2 diesel k5 blazer
 
Check the coolant level and engine oil - if they both look fine, I wouldn't get too concerned about at this time.
However, if the coolant is low and the engine oil looks like Dunkin' Donuts coffee with extra cream - it may be a head gasket leaking.
The head gaskets can be easily checked with the proper equipment for any signs of exhaust gases in the coolant system.
