The derm said don't use the retin a and Clindamycin but said I can moisturize with vaseline for lips and my Neutrogena for face although that prob won't be enough moisture so she said pat mineral oil or olive oil (extra light not extra virgin) on wet face to moisturize. she said these work as well if not better than expensive creams and do not clog pores (I asked). Anyone else try this?

I wash with Dove (sensitve skin) for face and body and I sometimes use Cetaphil for face.

Any other suggestions? I am trying to head off major problems with drness and peeling. I am on Day three of accutane.

Also does 80mg sound like too much? I read that it goes according to body weight. I am a 43 yr old female, 5'7" and about 150 lbs. My derm put me on 40 mg the first week and 80 mg therafter. She describes my acne as cystic and I would day mild to moderate but very persistent - have tried many different things with no long term results AND I ahve acne on my back. Thanks for any imput - knowledge is power as they say. Maureen

I was on 60mg. a day for 6 mos. I used Cortibalm for my lips. I washed with CereVe moisturizing face wash and my derm prescribed Desonide lotion for my face. That regiment worked for me. There's nothing that will totally stop the dryness, but the Cortibalm especially helped. He also put me on an antibiotic to ease the initial breakout.
Good luck!!

thanks JillR - so far vaseline and burts bebalm lip ointment is working but I will keep in mind the cortibalm. I know my mom used Desonide lotion for her face before and it was good so I will get that if I need to. I think my skin is a bit worse (I'm on day 6)-not horrific but definitey a lot more red dots (vs whiteheaRAB or cysts udner the skin). Thanks for the advice and support.
