Which xbox 360 gaming headset is best for me?

Im looking to spend somewhere near $40-$50 for a new headset, and i cant really decide. I will be using to mostly play call of duty 4 and i am looking for a good one (one that would allow me to hear enemy movements). Ive been searching and could only find expensive ones. I know that the astro A40 is the best, but i know im not getting that one since it is too expensive. I was considereing the Turtle Beach X1, but some people said they werent worth the money in the reviews. Can someone please help me?

i recommend the turlte beach X1...mainly for your price. I had the turtle beach X3 and loved it...i just couldn't get used to having all that sound in my ears. . . i mainly play halo 3 and when i play, i utilize my surround sound in my living room...so i know when someone is coming from behind me to my right...when i had the headphones on, i couldn't tell (audibly) where my opponents where. . . .other than that, it was a great headset...i could hear the talking (chat) just fine and my frineds said they could hear me great. the X3 had an upgrade from the X1 - it had this strange chat enhancer that made your teammates voices louder in your headset as the audio from the game got louder - however i found this to be difficult to adjust too, because your frinds normally yell over grenades anyway, so they were like screaming in my ear.


i'd def get the X1 if you have the money to spend...i sold my X3 and went for the XBOX360 wireless headset...which is fine for me, but not everyone's cup of tea
