Which would you rather be a member of and why? Army or Army reserve?

Anyone is free to answer this question but I mostly wonder which branch would be best for a person who has a family. What are the main differences?
So reservists don't get medical benefits?
If someone wanted to get into psychiatry which would be better active or reserve? Would it make a difference?
