Which would win in a race? '96 Buick Century or 2001 VW Jetta?

Okay, a friend and I are in a debated discussion. He owns a 01 Jetta and I a 96 Century. He's hellbent that his car is God and we beat anyone's car. Personally, I'd like to settle this with a straight up race, but he says he's so sure he'd win, that it isn't worth his time. What do you think? Here's the specs:

Buick Specs:
3.1L, 3100 series V6
160hp @ 5200 rpm
185 ft/lb of torque @ 4000 rpm

VW specs:
2.0 I4
115 hp @ 5200rpm, although my friend says he put a chip in it that brought it up past 210hp. Never heard of a chip doing that much, but whatever.
122 ft/lb of torque @ 2600 rpm (though he said this is now over 160)

So who do you think would win?
Should have added this:
Buick is a 4 speed auto.

The Jetta is a 5spd stick, but from what I have heard from two other friends (who both drive sticks and drive them well) my friend who drives the Jetta, can't shift to save his life. I guess he's just good enough to not stall the car, other than that he sucks.

1/4 mile. Unfortuantly we have no dragstips where I live. They used to hold drag races at our airport, but stopped doing that years ago. We do have many public roads that a 1+ mile straight, that almost always have little, to no traffic. We also have a 10+ miles of a 2 lane (each way) highway, but that usually has too much traffic on it to even attempt a race. But like I said, he's so sure he'll win that he won't do it. His car actually weighs in about the same as mine, give or take 200lbs.
