i like being in the water, but i wanna do night missions too also i don't know all the spec ops types tell me if i need to be more specific.

Navy seals, ranger, either one . Both conduct night raids and both are in the water ( more seals) but still rangers do . they are both extremely difficult courses to complete especially the seals.

Three main ones are:
Marine Force-Recon
Navy Seals
Army Special Forces:[or what we called Glorified school moms in Nam]
.
Of the three go with MARINE FORCE RECON: THEY'RE THE BEST: Because you get to fall from the sky like bird s.h.i.t. and crawl along the bottom of the ocean like whale s.h.i.t. as we usd to say.

There was a show on the Military channel not too long ago about BUD/s. It showed the class (234 I believe) from start to finish (what wasn't classified). The class started off with 118 people who were all trying to be seals. Within the first few hours, people started dropping out. I can't remember the exact number, but I think maybe 16 actually passed the 6 month course and became SEALS. Army and Marine SOF train differently but I am sure it is just as intense with a similar drop out rate. Try to find that show online and just see what they go thru. If you still think you want to try, then more power to you and best of luck.

You really need to do more research if these are your concerns. Every American schoolboy has a hard on for SOF from video games and movies. Meanwhile, the reality of is obscure, even to most active duty servicemen.

How can you say that you want to be SOF unless you know what they do well enough to know the differences between them? You really need to do more research. Read The Warrior Elite and Chosen Soldier by Dick Couch. Then, read That Others May Live by Jack Brehm, and Blackhawk Down by Mark Bowden. One Bullet Away by Nate Fick will close it out for you.

If you fail to do even this basic amount of research, I'd bet my life (and yours) that you are not SOF material, because you took the easy way out: you dreamed, and did nothing more.

Edit: the guy above me is wrong. Recon BN is a USMC asset, not SOCOM. They are not techincally Special Operations Forces: MARSOC is.

Rock is correct. About 75% of the folks on here claim that they want special forces of one type or other...and, frankly, from what I have seen, most of them would wash on the 1st day.

Read up and do your research, so you can ask the recruiter good questions.

Good luck.
