i was in thailand in october and i saw a private dance to welcome some business guests at a hotel

there were 4 thai women dancers on one side and 4 men dancers on the other side. i have heard that you can call this dance ramthai or candle dance and searched videos on utube but it is not that dance. The candle or ramthai dances i have seen have slower thai kind of music and lesser noise.

here the women were holding candles and moving their hands and legs in a very curvy and beautiful manner by stepping left and right on their toes and moving ankles by twisting wrists - ......

the men in the dance had instruments and vigerous banging and clanging. The tune of the instruments and rythym was just fantastic. it had an oriental touch but not the typical thai or chinese style which is obvious to a laymans ears.

another thing i remember, the men would stop their music occasionally and shout some chants in a loud gutteral voice -

i have searched and searched - if you have any links or ideas please forward them to me - i will continue searching

That's just a traditional Thai dance - in Thai language it sounds like ramthai - but it's not likely to be written that way in Youtube.

You're not going to find that exact same dance on video - because they choreograph it on the spot - they decide how to do it for guests and practice themselves, it's not like learning 'The Tango'.
