Which style should I use for my AP History Essay?

I'm writing my first AP history essay and I'm not sure what format to put it in?
Which seems the most professional?
MLA?
APA?
probably not the elementary school version where you just use a regular heading.

Also the teacher mentioned if we hand wrote it to double space implying that we shouldn't if we typed it.

a note is that I only know MLA but it may seem less professional, I'm not sure.
 
MLA

APA can be complicated if you don't know what you're doing. Plus, I never used APA until college, so your teacher may not expect it. In fact, if your school uses MLA, she may not even know APA well enough to grade it effectively.
 
Either is professional because both are commonly accepted formatting styles. If your teacher didn't pick one for you, chose APA: the american psychological association. MLA is mostly for history papers, as it's the modern language association.
