Which sims game is the best?

I had the sims 2 on my other computer and i loved to play it. I got a new laptop and i gave my old computer to my cousins. I want to get the sims game again but i'm not sure whether to get sims 2 or sims 3. I am used to sims 3 and i know a lot of cheats for it. Are the cheats the same for sims 3? What is different between the two and which do you reccomend?
 
3 3 3!!!!! I have them both and they both rock, but sims 3 beats it by a land slide! you have som much more things to do and more stuff to see. its a little more expensive though since its the newer one
