I am 14 years old and i am 5'7 and 155 pounds. I play football so physical contact is not a problem and i am in pretty good shape. I am also wide in build or stocky.

There is no art that is best for anyone based upon your size or enjoyment of receiving blows. There may be a best art considering your temperament, or personal philosophy - and certainly your interest - but based on the information that you have provided you will not receive any reasoned answers aside from people who state - this is the art I like.

You may as well ask, what model car should I buy - I'm 16, 5'-10", and I like soccer. Without a better understanding on how you want to use the car, where you live, if you prefer trucks over hybrids, or your budget - any answer you receive is likely to be random and therefore useless. Personally, I like monster trucks and the Bugatti Veyron (pretty useless if you're not a billionaire playboy).

Your best bet is to see what is near you and to try them all out. They all offer a free class - take them up on it. Eventually you will find one that you enjoy, is close enough that your parents will drive you, and inexpensive enough that they will pay for it. Until you can afford to move to another country and train with "Grandmaster Fu", any other recommendations you get are along the lines of of car question.

This answer does not hold for 5'-1" girls who weigh 110 pounds and want to be sumo wrestlers (obviously their size precludes them) but for most other people, it is true.

Booyakasha is right. It depends on you.

That being said, if you're specifically looking for something self-defense related, make sure you find someone who actually teaches the art based on self-defense and not just fitness or competitive reasons.
