Which scripting library is best for ASP.NET Ajax?

I've heard of 3 script libraries: Scriptaculous, Prototype, and the ASP.NET Ajax Toolkit. I'm not sure if they are complimentary or competitive with one another, but I don't want to waste my time on something that was just a mistake that never died (you know, like Vista).
