Which route to Vancouver has better scenery and tourist destinations?

I want to travel to Vancouver. I'm traveling with my family. From Calgary on the transcanada highway to Kamloops OR from Edmonton on highway 16 to highway 5 to Kamloops. Which would be better.

Both routes will go through Kamloops, then on to Vancouver. I fully recommend you take the Yellowhead Hwy from Edmonton to Jasper and down through Kamloops. Much more scenic and less traffic. Once in Kamloops, the more scenic route to Vancouver is the old Fraser Canyon route. I wouldn't do the Coquihalla; faster but less scenery.

Why not do both - go to Vancouver via the Trans Canada, return via Highway 5 and 16. Both routes have incredible scenery. Once you hit Kamloops, you have the choice of Highway 5 (the Coquihalla) or the Fraser Canyon on Highway 1. The Coq is faster, but the canyon is way more scenic.

If you go from Calgary to Vancouver via the trans-Canada highway (Don't take the Coquihalla Highway cutoff), you will have the opportunity to see lots, but it tends to be more touristy. The traffic can be a pain during the summertime, esp if you get behind slow moving trailers or RVs trying to negotiate the steeper parts of the highway.

Jasper to Vancouver via the Yellowhead is, in my opinion, the more scenic route.

I would agree with the first person who posted - take the Yellowhead going one way, and return via the TransCanada the other way.
