i'm new here, but have been using the discussion forums since the days of nrabroad
hing but plain text and stay on topic or yer outta here.

in an odd thread today, there is a poll ranking the presidents and boom boom boy made the remark "useless source reference". it probably was, but there was no cause given for the statement, so i have no way of knowing without chasing down the link.

i regularly see hard core right wingers slamming reporters and analysts they don't like. i tried to post a commentary by jim hightower to on topic. jim's a pretty well respected guy in texas, and definitely no friend of the right wing, but apparently nrabroad
up to the standards of the master debaters in that crowd.

i like to post articles and editorials from all sorts of sources for casual discussion and i hate seeing a decent conversation go down in flames just because somebody has a hard-on for the source.

i don't think i've ever seen anybody actually discuss something that people like glenn beck, rush limbaugh and that crowd have ever said because they get sidetracked into slamming each rabroad
her's ideologies and reliability rather than addressing the issues.

here in austin, texas, alex jones of infowars.com is everybody's favorite loose cannon. personally, i don't think he's a very responsible journalist who sometimes runs with stories that are nrabroad
verifiable. but then, sometimes he nails it right where it needs to be nailed.

even when he's right on, i wouldn't want to try and post anything of his here if it's going to get trashed just because it's by him. same goes for anybody else --- even rush limbaugh, ann coulter, michelle malkin or arianna huffington.

so who in the world of opinions is worth bringing in here for discussion?

cautious, nrabroad
serious.

i have some pretty unusual sources that send the hackles of right and left wing extremists straight up and it's really disappointing when the people responding to the thread trash the source and use the alleged unreliability of the source as cause for refusing to address the arguments in the article.

hold that thought; i'll be right back with a new thread from a left wing news agency just to see what happens.

I'd supplement this by pointing out some pov's are trabroad
al garbage propaganda and should be avoided at all costs, like Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Olberman, Air America crowd, etc. The right is far worse than the left, and all are out to destroy your intellect. There are some good nuggets in there sometimes, but they only seem to be identifiable with more reliable information.

The aforementioned sources are good, but I'd throw in PBS NewsHour and NPR (including Marketplace & Planet Money). Of course the victims of propaganda will suggest these are the worst, but then again...they are victims and should be pitied or laughed at.

no one. Doesn't matter if they have a doctorate's or just out of high school, they all have their own opinions and work for major networks owned by bosses with their own opinions who write their paychecks and are just big corporations with government ties.

Only thing to do is do the research yourself. It's going to be 4x more than any MSM reporter and 6x more than the typical party sackrider.
Oh, and pray the government never gets trabroad
al control of the internet.
