When I talk,
Mum says, "I am a chatterbox".
When I am Quiet,
I'm in a mood.
When I nod,
I'm being ignorant.
When I answer back,
I'm being rude.
When I sit still,
I'm being boring.
When i run about,
I'm a pain in the neck.
When i rush my dinner,
i'm being greedy.
When I don't,
My mother frets.
I very often wonder,
If grown ups understand.
If its children they really want,
Or robots in command.
Because everything I seem to do,
I never get it right.
They only option left to me,
Is to keep out of sight.
I'm sure you've heard the phrase,
"We should be seen and not to be heard."
I think it would be worthy to add a teeny tiny word,
"Children should not be seen and not be heard."
