Which Phone?

What carrier are you going to use. You really should decide on that before you pick a phone, because if the phone doesn't work, all you have is an expensive paperweight.
 
After using the Samsung D807, I wouldn't use another Samsung. Poor sound, poor reception, cool slider effect, but that was about it. I would probably go with a Motorola before I got another Samsung. I would stick with SE for now.

And Dub is right, depends on the provider. If you have Cingular, and you purchase a triband phone with no 850, you might have a sweet paper weight.
 
This is very interesting to me - are you suggesting that this is the case when out in the sticks, or in a city as well? Or just doesn't work well indoors? Curious, as I cannot find a damn gsm (cingular) phone I like at all, and was considering something like a sirocco..
 
If you can't find a GSM phone you like, then you are stuck with either Verizon or Sprint for a carrier and neither of them allow anything but their own phones on their networks.

Plus they are CDMA which generally doesn't work outside the US of A.
 
I am suggesting that you may have poor or no service with a tri band phone on Cingular. I have a tri band SE that I use as a back up, and I happen to get service where I live. That might not be the case if I go somewhere outside of my home town. I don't know how it is for everyone and for every phone, but you run that risk. I have seen some posts here on HoFo where people are using a tri band phone, and have no service.

You cannot find a single GSM phone at all that you like? There are so many options out there, although the quad bands are a little more limited.
 
er. rogers coz im in canada...i'd be using it 90% of the time in a city with 1 million+ people...so reception shouldn't be a problem. i don't want a candybar or flip.
