I'm a senior taking AP Literature, and our teacher just assigned us an essay to prove or disprove the "literary merit" of a 21st century novel. I decided to read a Chuck Palahniuk book since I loved the Fight Club movie, but I can't decide what to read!

Which of the three (Rant, Choke, or Lullaby) would you suggest, and why? Of the synopses I've read, these seem the most interesting in terms of plot, but I need a second opinion.

Thanks!

they're all fantastic.
choke was the first palahniuk book i read, though, so it's not a bad start.

why those 3? i think invisible monsters is the best. but out of them read lullaby becasue choke your teacher will think youve only chosen becasue of the movie. and i havent read rant to know.

Personally, I loved Fight Club. The ending is different from the movie and it's great. My other favorite is Invisible Monsters.

I guess that out of the three you've picked, I like Choke (haven't seen the movie yet) because of the way it deals with perceptions of others and illusions of the self. That's really all I can about why I like it without giving away plot.

Good luck on your paper.

Personally I think you should read Choke! It is hilarious and full of bizzare things that normal people would never write about! Read it!
