I’m a 24 year old guy that started going for dance lesson because I’m tried of just sitting there like a party pooper at parties. The dance studio I go to teaches several different types of Latin/Ballroom dances. So far, they taught me the basics of the Merengue, Rumba, and Swing. For just one lesson, I was happy the way I was learning and I feel this is something I can be real good at.

So, now to my question….

I would like to be prepared and know which dance will be the most difficult to learn. Below is a list of the 11 Latin/Ballroom Dances that this dance studio teaches. Which one is the hardest to learn?

1. Rumba
2. Tango
3. Samba
4. Mambo/Salsa
5. Cha Cha
6. Merengue
7. Bossa Nova
8. Waltz
9. Fox Trot
10. Swing
11. Hustle

If you're talking expertise, foxtrot is notoriously difficult. But learning social foxtrot enough to be competent isn't so difficult. Also, you'll find that each of the Standard/smooth dances reinforces the others, and each of the Latin/rhythm dances reinforces the others. It's pretty daunting for a beginner, but it won't be long before you get to the point at which you wonder why you even asked.
