The options are:
1. Medieval Europe
2. Byzantium
3. Islam
4. China
5. Japan
6. Mayan Civilization
7. Inca Civilization

I'm am having a hard time choosing which civilization I'd rather use. There's just too much to research in order to make a rather exceptional decision. So, considering this... a response from some one with some prior knowledge on one or more of these civilizations would be greatly appreciated. To make it a bit easier I'll list some of the civilizations I'd rather not do... Medieval Europe (since we're covering this civilization in class right now... the purpose of this ISU.. would likely be defeated). I didn't like learning about Rome, so I don't think I'd enjoy doing the Byzantium Empire. I don't think I'd be interested in doing Islam. I'm an atheist and probably most of the civilization's history would pertain to Islamic religion.

Oh.. And keep in mind, that when I mention Japan and China. I don't mean the modern countries that exist today. Thank you.
Oh.. for this ISU I am supposed to um.. here I'll just post a quote from the assignment sheet. "For this assignment your task will be to create a fictional individual taking into account gender, age, social class, occupation, religion, etc, and place him or her within a particular civilization and at a particular point in that civilization’s history."

I read a lot of historical fiction so I can relate to your assignment listed because that is what historical fiction is. They put a fictional character in a historical period. You get to experience the history from the viewpoint of the fictional character. It really is good.

You could do Japan....ever read "Shogun"? They have a fictional dutch mariner that comes to be in Japan in the heyday of the Samurai.

You could do the Mayan or Aztec's....I've read alot of Gary Jennings' books about the Aztec civilization.

You could do Medieval Europe. (really Briton) I read a seven book series on the forming of Camelot and how King Authur came to be. The series was by Jack Whyte called the Camulod Series.

Anyway...just some suggestions for you to get ideas...

If it were me I would do the Islamic Empire. Reason it would look good on a resume if I were trying to get a job with the CIA.
