My goal is to increase my endurance.
At first I did push-ups continuosly without rest in between repetitions, and as a result I wasn't able to do many. In the end I didn't feel very exhausted and didn't feel much soreness but my muscles need time to restore.
Later on in the year, I changed it. I did pus-ups with rests in between repetitions by locking out my arms. I felt exhausted and sore.
I did this for some time now.
When I went back to my first push-up version, I found it was as if I did not improve at my first pushups at all.
Which of these pushup techniques are the correct one?
(And yes, I do them very low.)

I believe there are some deeper issues here than simply push ups. Your body needs more variety to develop fully. I would recommend a more comprehensive program that varies the exercises and I think you'll see faster results. You could try weight training, working not only your arms, but shoulders, back, stomach, etc. It takes a lot more muscles than just your arms and shoulders.

I'm currently working the P90X program and I'm seeing rapid increases in the number of reps I can do. I'm also seeing more strength in my karate moves as a result.

There are other programs you can do and even just talking to a trainer at the local gym should be able to point you towards some exercise that will help you see more rapid results.

Good luck!
