Scientists developed the “wind chill” temperature because human skin loses heat as the temperature drops and as wind speed increases. The “wind chill” combines the cooling effect the wind has on human skin to provide an apparent temperature. This new apparent temperature is the temperature at which human skin would lose heat if there were no wind and the actual temperature was that low. Which of the following is not true with respect to the wind chill temperature?

a. As the wind speed increases and temperature decreases the wind chill temperature decreases.

b. The current wind chill formula uses wind speeds at 5 feet above the surface (roughly the average height of humans).

c. The threshold for a “dangerous situation” with respect to wind chill occurs when the wind chill is below -18°F.

d. The calculation of the wind chill assumes un-obscured sunshine.

e. The current wind chill calculation was made doing experiments on a model of a human face.
