Which NASA Astronaut experienced the vacuum of space for 14 seconds in 1965?

I was reading 'The Observer Book of Space' and I came across this interesting nugget of information, and I'd like to know more, but it doesn't mention which astronaut. His (or her?) suit has a tear in it.

Apparently he could feel the saliva on his tongue beginning to boil!
 
I would be interested in seeing your source. I have never heard of this.

If they did in fact feel the "saliva on his tongue beginning to boil", he would not have been around afterward to tell about it.

I think you've been had.
