Which Mountain Bikes are better, Cannondale or GT?

It depends on what your looking for in a bike, there are trail bikes, racing bikes, downhill bikes, and regular road bikes. If your only planning on leisure road riding you can get a bike from lots of good companies like what you suggested or Trek, Specialized, Giant makes some half decent ones. Most pro-bike shops will let you test ride them and see if it feels good for you.
 
Well, considering that Cannondale and GT are both owned by Pacific it might be thought that they are pretty much the same quality. They are, but thay also have completely different technology since they work independently from each other.

Bottom line is that GT has far better mountain bike (all-mountain and cross country) designs than Cannondale.
 
Well, seeing as Garbage Truck makes crappy bmx bikes then it makes crappy mtbs. Might as well go for the cannondale i guess.
