...16th President? ? i.e. commemorative plates, coins, using Lincolns Bible during Obama's inauguration , etc. Warning, I am a direct descendant of Abraham Lincoln & a non believer of Obama promises & a non supporter of Obama policies & while I commend Lincoln for freeing the slaves & I support all races right to run for president, I resent Obama being commemorated along side President Lincoln so if that or this poll Offends You, pass by this question, do not read answers & do not answer this poll.
Answerer's: Below are my personal comparisons & a link to famous quotes from Abraham Lincoln but if you can find different, authentic Lincoln quotes to use as your choices, give your source & explain your comparison of Obama & Lincoln, whether positive or negative. Made up quotes or quotes from anyone other than Lincoln do not count. Personal sarcasm towards Obama and/or Lincoln only acceptable when supported by Lincoln quotes fairly compared to your impression of Obama
http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Abraham_Lincoln
"He can compress the most words into the smallest ideas of any man I ever met" (my impression of Obama)
"If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend" (thus, Obama won over his supporters)
"No man has a good enough memory to make a successful liar" (thus Obama flip flops in the face of accusations)
"You may decieve all the people part of the time and part of the people all the time, but not all the people all the time" (time will tell)
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power" (Biden warned, Obama will be tested)
The following Lincoln quotes express my opinion as to why Obama policies are wrong:
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging the thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.
And this Lincoln quote speaks for itself regarding the campaigning, the election & the unforseen outcome of the next 4 years:
"The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what we have done here"
