which language and database are suitable to create small business application?

i m runnig small business and have one windows server and 8 other computer connected with that.

i have 40 people staff and every night i have to store their activity for the day plus their profile, plus workshop selling/ buying data. and much more and everything connected with each other. i have one desktop application but its not efficient and very slow. and i want to update more features in new application

what language and database i should choose to create new application? so its can run faster and more efficient and i can generate different custom report from it also its should run simultaneous in all computer in term of updating database at same time.
