I am a beginner- no experience, except for msf course. I need it for highway/city (to and from work/school). im 25 years old, female, 5'2" & 140lbs. I know i need a 2 cylinder, but im unsure on which size to get because of cc's and weight. Please answer...and explanations behind your opinion. thanks.
ya, alot of people say 250 is too light and not enough power for highway riding. they say if a big truck goes by that it might blow me over...dont want that to happen.
I understand the importance of starting small, but i want to chose something that suits my basic needs.

Where you live, are there any steep mountain roads?
or/ is it level were you live?
if its level, no mountain roads or highways the 250 Ninja will work and keep up at highway speeds, but the 250 Ninja is slow on acceleration when going on a highway on an entrance ramp and blending into traffic.
But most bikers avoid the big 4 lane highways.
The 500 or 650 Ninja is better.
Go and look at the Yamaha FZ6, it has a more comfortable riding position and much more reliable than the Kawasaki

you will be fine on the 250. I am 5'7" and 140lbs and I've been riding an 07 ninja 250 for over a year. It's light and agile, sticks like glue, gets great gas mileage. The power from the bottom end is lacking a little, but it does 90-100 easy on the highway. I have dealt with windy conditions and gusts from large trucks and never felt like I'd be blown over. Lean into the wind a bit to compensate.
