Which is the best Verizon phone with a QWERTY keyboard and good reception?

I'm in the market for a new Verizon phone. I want a qwerty keyboard (for texting), and good reception. I live in MN, and will use the phone in the Mpls area, and the Ely, MN area (wayyyy up North). I don't care if it has a camera, or plays video or any of that, but good reception and a QWERTY keyboard are must-haves. Small is nice too.

Lastly, are there reputable places to buy these online, and are these places cheaper than the Verizon store? I WON'T sign a 2 year contract (will sign for 1 year). At present, I am with Cingular, but no longer under contract.

Thanks!

Hi,

I live in Minneapolis and I would not recommend getting Verizon, whatever you do!

I live in Coon Rapids (15 minutes outside Downtown) and the reception was so horrible I straight out paid 800.00 to get out of my contract because I couldnt talk to anyone out here.

Ely, MN is even worse. Any type of signal is non-exsistant. I got up there occasionally with some family friends. I used to have to not even bring my cell phone, because there was simply no reception.

Cingular is by far the best out of any carrier I have used around here. If you plan on going up to Ely, MN alot then I would recommend looking at Alltel because their vast Rural coverage.

But if you want good reception, dont even consider Verizon.

I am not happy with the Cingular coverage I have presently. I live in Prospect Park here in Mpls (one of the highest natural points in all of Mpls), and I get dropped calls very, very often, as does my wife (also Cingular). New sim cards didn't help.

Furthermore, I have relatives with Verizon who have great reception, both in Mpls and Ely. Goodbye Cingular.

Now, anyone have a PHONE suggestion for me?

Sorry I didnt exactly say what you wanted to hear.

Anyways if you absolutly want to stay with verizon get the Vx9900. Seems to meet your criteria perfectly. Its thin and got a qwerty keyboard.

I hear its a great phone!
