im looking to buy a newer car.. 4 door. now its either a honda civic or mazda 3 ive been told mazda's are a bit more expensive to fix . i like the space of the mazda ( i need the truck space for tools)..but from what ive been told the honda is the better car to go with.. i obviously dont want to be throwing alot of money around fixing problems.

what are the ups and downs of the mazda 3 compared to the honda civic whether its gas, weight, space, parts, problems, etc . feel free to add anything you want to tell me about either

please state your source aswell

If it's the looks, performance, and comfort you want than I'd go with the mazda, they're very nice and well built cars, you shouldn't have too many problems, if any. Now on the other hand, if you want a car that will last you 250,000 miles without a single oil leak, I'd have to go with the honda, but as you said you're going to want to be carrying tools around, and they can get heavy, I'm going to have to say the mazda will have more room, and more power to help you carry the extra weight... so really it's a flip of a coin, both great cars, both good on gas... what do you want, a block that says Honda or a block that says Ford? (mazda is a ford, fyi)

well in my opinoin a Mazda is more expensive but a honda is mroe reliable the ups for the mazda is that they have good modles but they are expensive and a hondA IS PRETTY good i have one and it has enough space for me =)

Well, obviously a Honda will be more reliable than a mazda. Mazda's are almost half-owned by ford. Honda's are known for their reliability and great japanese engineering. Mazda's are known for distinctive styling and comfort. Mazda 3 has good styling, probably a bit better than the civic sedan but the civic coupe has way better styling than the mazda 3 IMO. Honda's tend to be more fuel efficient and less expensive to maintain and the car parts can be found almost everywhere especially from a civic, plus they have less depreciation over the years. I dont know if where you live mazda's are more expensive than Honda's, but in my area Honda is much more expensive than mazda but the extra charge in price is well worth it. I have 3 friends with old Honda cars like from the mid 90's and still are running great also my neighbor owns a new accord and he says that it has been one of the better cars he has owned with the exception of his older lexus gs and infiniti q45 which both lasted forever with no major problems. Both mazda's and honda's are good cars but i have seen quite a few mazda's especially rx8's in the dealer i service my vehicle being serviced continously for warranty repairs. Just ask current mazda owners or honda owners you might know about their cars or do some research from both vehicles you are opting to buy ---> Just some tips. Hope they can help.
