Which is better? Sony hd camorder or Panasonic?

I'm trying to decide between buying the Sony hd camcorder or the Panasonic one at a similar price.
I am not a professional and I wanna just use the camara to record family events like holidays and birthdays. Plus, I also wanna use it to make high quality you tube videos.
