which is better, nissan altima, or honda accord?

I am looking to buy a new car very soon and right now I have my mind set on the Nissan Altima. But my dad is saying that hes not sure if its a better deal than the accord and thinks it may be more reliable as a long term car. Can anyone help me in this decision? and also i was wondering if i get the altima is it better to get the sedan or the coupe? both are really nice in my opinion, and id rather have the coupe, but my dad says that the coupe is less practical and that the sedan would be more reliable than the coupe. thanks
