which is better for running advanced games?

would 1GB DDR3 or 3738 MB of normal video memory be better. im not sure the pros/cons of DDR3 so i dont know wether 1GB of good video memory would out perform 3738 MB of worse video memory...they each have the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics card (im comparing almost identical HP pavilion laptops)
