Which is better 2011 Mazda 3 or a 2011 Honda Civic?

Hey! I just need some advice. I am in the process of purchasing a new car and I would like to know which one is better in terms of performance, safety, reliability, mechanics, interior, and exterior? The two cars that I have come down to are:

1) 2011 i Touring Sedan Mazda 3 (auto)
2) 2011 Honda Civic LX (auto)

To be honest..I like both! And I currently drive a Honda Accord and I been pretty happy with it so I'm debating on whether to try something new or stick to what I know in terms of brands, and it seems like the ratings are pretty close to each other as well but everyones Feedback would be great! I don't know too much about cars. But, I found a Honda LX 2011 for 17,000 *final price* and I found a 2011 Mazda 3 for 14,000 *final price* I'm confused which one to go with. I liked Mazda's zippy drive and Honda was pretty much a regular drive.

This may sound strange, but check with your insurance agent on this! While the Honda should prove cheaper to buy gas for, and projected repair costs are also lower, the difference in insurance costs may put the Mazda into the better buy area. If this is the case, go for the ZIP (Mazda 3).
